Good to know

Before you go

Which accommodation suits us?

Looking for an island stay? Cottage North and Cottage South suit guests who want to experience life on the water and enjoy using a small boat. The island is only accessible by boat; you cannot walk or cycle there. Shopping, walks and outings on the mainland also involve a boat trip. Wind, rain and temperature are more noticeable on the island. This is part of outdoor life and calls for some preparation.

Prefer nature with easy access to the mainland? The Rose, The Tulip and De Lelie are more sheltered in Achterbos, in the heart of a natural area. You can reach these stays on foot or by bicycle. Enjoy your private outdoor space by the water without needing a boat for shopping or a day out.

The Rose, The Tulip, De Lelie and Cottage North accommodate up to four guests. Cottage South is for two. Unsure which experience suits your group? Victor is happy to help.

How do we reach the cottages?

Cottage North and Cottage South are reached by boat. An Askeladden motorboat with a 4 hp engine is available during your stay. No boating licence is required; beginners can receive an introduction. Arrange your arrival with Victor.

Do we have our own outdoor space?

All outdoor areas are entirely private and are not shared with other guests. They are enclosed for dogs on the land side; a dog can still leave via the water. The houseboats have waterfront gardens, De Lelie a private south-facing garden, and the cottages their own terrace and outdoor space on the island.

What are the sleeping arrangements?

The Rose has a double bed and two single beds. The Tulip has a double bed and a sofa bed. Cottage North has two double sofa beds; Cottage South has one. At De Lelie the double bed measures 140 × 200 cm and the two single beds each measure 70 × 200 cm.

Can we bring pets?

We regularly welcome dogs and cats at the houseboats and cottages. Cats can feel particularly at home on the island, surrounded by outdoor space and nature. Pets can stay here for an additional charge. Pets are not allowed at Chalet de Lelie. Dog life jackets may be available. Discuss availability and your plans with Victor in advance.

What can we do nearby?

Boating, canoeing, swimming in suitable places, birdwatching and cycling let you discover the Vinkeveen lakes. For De Lelie, a swimming spot around 1.5 km away is described, accessible by rowing boat or canoe. Amsterdam and Utrecht are nearby for a day in the city.
